I'm installing a 16x2 LCD (HD44780), the standard one they use. I see you all paying a lot for LCDs, and this one even has a backlight: about €2.06, free shipping from China. Having confirmed that it arrives safely (and more or less quickly) and works, I've probably bought about 4 or 5. I don't want to see anyone spending a fortune on LCDs unless they want the I2C connection module and similar things.

One question: Have you tried using that LCD with an I2C module to save pins on the microcontroller? Is it worth the extra expense based on your experience? I'm trying to build something simple but power-efficient (I live in Finland, where electricity isn't cheap. I use Sähkön Hinta Nyt to keep track of prices).

This is a fantastic and detailed list, thank you for compiling it! Since the list is still under construction, are you planning to add a section for stores to avoid based on negative experiences, as mentioned in the title? It would be very helpful to know which sellers have had issues with slow shipping, incorrect parts, or poor customer service.
